Banker fraud extravaganza: CumEx Files reveal 55 billion euros worth of dividend tax fraud

Banks

A cross-border collaboration of investigative journalists has revealed a major tax fraud scheme by bankers and lawyers. Although dubbed ‘the heist of the century’ because of the vastness of the scam impacting multiple countries, this story has received little attention in the mainstream media across Europe.

The fraud supposedly comprises 55 billion euros worth of dividend taxes illegitimately withheld from tax institutions in countries like Germany, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Although legal actions are being carried out, the question will be: who will pay for this and how? Will those accountable be brought to justice and jailed? The tax payer could once again be the victim.

Stay tuned to the Janssen Report for more coverage in the time to come.
