Anarchapulco conference & further destabilization of markets, EU banks. What about the US?

A quick Janssen Report recorded on the plane on my way to the Anarchapulco conference in Acapulco, Mexico. The global economy has been off to a rough start this year (surprise, anyone?). The stock markets in Europe, US and Asia are experiencing a lot of turbulence and a crash is on the horizon. After all, the bubble that has been created through quantitative easing (excessive money “printing” by the central banks) must pop some time. And I think it won’t be long before that happens. Now we are hearing rumors about the Federal Reserve possibly reversing their December rate hike. It will be interesting to see where that goes: back to ZIRP (Zero Interest Rate Policy) or possibly even to NIRP (Negative Interest Rate Policy)?
Now the mainstream media are reporting about major banks being in trouble, e.g. Deutsche Bank. The mess in the Italian banking system also starts surfacing, which will probably lead to the ECB bailing them out. I expect the central banks to pull out their arsenal of interest rate manipulation and “money printing” to keep the Ponzi scheme going.
However, I picked up on an interesting discussion within the EU recently: the option of so-called “QE for the People”. Economists such as Steve Keen have suggested this before, as the whole scheme of creating currency out of thin air and handing it to the banks really has nothing to do with stimulating the real economy. Obviously this quantitative easing (QE) is nothing but a blunt bank bailout. Now handing “cash” to consumers directly will probably have such an effect, albeit very short term.
So will the citizens of the EU see a cash handout to them within the next few years? Who knows… We have seen so many insane policies leading to such incredible anomalies already, so why not? At least that will be a gesture to the people for a change.

The final item on this report: I am heading to Acapulco to attend the Anarchapulco conference there. The main theme is Anarchy (i.e. self-governance instead of state-governance), but the subject matter is much broader than that. I am looking to meet like-minded people and further build my international network within free thinkers, alternative media and monetary reformers.
More on that in the next Janssen Report, which I hope to publish within the next few days.
Freedom to you all!
Cheers,
Marco Janssen
